Tag Brush

Image
For this activity I used Photoshop to create a tag brush for my logo. I had previously created my logo of a jellyfish using Adobe Illustrator. I used that same logo and placed it into Photoshop to make my tag brush. I used the pen tool to form an outline around my logo then I added scratches and a negative overlay to make the logo look textured. I am happy with the final look of the tag brush and look forward to using these skills in my future photoshop projects.

Photoshop Tutorials

Crop Tool Tutorial: This video explains how to use the crop tool in Adobe Photoshop as a beginner. The narrator thoroughly explains how to crop and straighten images. This video is very easy for a person who has never used Photoshop before. The narrator shows how to find the tool in the toolbar and explains the keyboard shortcut to accessing it. Based on this tutorial, I think the crop tool would be relatively easy to use. I found it particularly useful when the narrator gave a brief summary of everything he covered in the video at the very end to help me remember. This was an in-depth tutorial covering how to use the brush tool in Photoshop. I liked how the narrator put a table of contents at the beginning of the video to give people the option to skip to the parts of the video they would like to cover. Based on this tutorial, I feel like the brush tool is one of the more complex tools on Photoshop. There are so many different ways to use the brush tool and I think it might be h...

Propaganda Poster

Image
Original Image: Self-Portrait: Propaganda Poster: I created this propaganda poster to address the serious issue of domestic violence in our society. Domestic violence affects an estimated 10 million people in the United States every year and most of these cases go unreported. I decided to keep the poster simple to really emphasize the message. I used the words "Love Shouldn't Hurt" at the top of the poster to bring awareness to domestic violence and the words, "Break the Silence" to touch upon the fact that a lot of incidents involving domestic violence are not talked about. I placed a broken heart behind my self-portrait and a teardrop on my cheek to add a visual element to the poster.

Logo

Sketches: Black & White Version: Color Versions:               I created this logo as a combination of a jellyfish and a sun to represent the tranquil and vibrant energy I feel like I carry myself with. I originally sketched images of the sun and jellyfish separately, but together, I feel like they embody two important parts of who I am. I created these images using Adobe Illustrator. I started by placing my sketches of each of the images in my art board. I then used the pen tool to trace the outline of the jellyfish with part of the sun inside. Next, I adjusted my shapes until they were exactly as I had envisioned them. Finally, I played around with different color combinations until I found some that I felt best represented the deeper meaning of my logo. The blue symbolizes calmness and tranquility and the pink and orange represent my outgoing and optimistic side. The final product of this logo is reflective of me as a person.

Calligramme

Image
Calligramme Original Sketch: Adobe Illustrator: I created this calligramme in the shape of a sailboat to represent the journey I have had up until this point in my life and the journey that I will have in the next twenty years of my life. I wrote a letter to my future self in which I explained all of the hopes and dreams I wish to accomplish by the time I am 41. When I finished writing, I decided that my letter would best be displayed in the form of a sailboat. To me, a sailboat represents journey and adventure. All of the ups and downs we experience everyday are all part of our journey and what helps mold us into the people we are.  I used Adobe Illustrator to create this calligramme. I started by sketching out the sailboat on paper and then recreated the drawing on Illustrator using the pen tool. I then used the type tools to insert pieces of my letter to create the shape of the sailboat using just my words. I played around with different fonts, colors, and sizes until my vision ...

Adobe Illustrator Tools for Beginners

Image
Eraser Tool This video explains how to use the eraser tool on Adobe Illustrator as a beginner. I liked how detailed the narrator’s instructions are in this video. The video also uses a visual element of the narrator showing what the tool looks like on Adobe Illustrator and what it looks like when the tool is applied to shapes. The eraser tool can be used to make sections of a design transparent. Based on this tutorial, I feel like the eraser tool would be easy to use. I found it interesting how the narrator alluded to the idea that there are more effective ways to remove unwanted segments on Illustrator than using the eraser tool. Type Tool This video covers the basics of how to use the type tool in Adobe Illustrator. From this video I can tell that the type tool is more complex that some of the other tools on Illustrator. With that being said, it probably takes a bit of practice to be able to use it efficiently. I found it interesting to see how many different type tools there are on ...

Internet / World Wide Web / Bluetooth / Wi-Fi

Internet and World Wide Web To put it briefly, the internet is a global network of interconnected computer networks that allows for information, communication, and resources to be exchanged worldwide. The internet was invented by a group of scientists and engineers in the 1960s in the United States. During this time, the Cold War was going on and there was tension between North America and the Soviet Union. This led to the creation of the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, or ARPANET which is known today as the internet. Even though the process of inventing the internet began around the 1960s, the official creation date of the internet is January 1, 1983 and it was originally used by military scientists and university staff. The internet has since evolved into the communication, information, and entertainment system that we recognize today. Sir Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web in 1989. He decided to invent it because he did not like the way information was separated a...
